Hoot 'n' Holler Layout

I just love the Cricut Lite Hoot 'n' Holler cartridge! I decided to use it for this layout of my son. He wanted to know why there were owls on it, but, hey, I just like them! The hardhat on one of the owls is from Everyday Paper Dolls. The patterned paper is from my favorite DCWV stack, Summer Dream. I bought it at the beginning of the summer and used a lot of it, so I was very excited to find it again at Joann's a couple of week's ago on clearance for $7!

I decided to pair this cute "There's snow place like home" sentiment with the adorable little house from the Joys of the Season cartridge. I also tried sewing some smoke coming out of the chimney. I'm not sure how well it shows up on this background paper, but I kind of like it!

Halloween Card with 3 Birds on Parade

There are so many Halloween challenges going on right now, and two are being held by my Pink Designer pals! Check out Lauren's blog, 40:31 Creations, and Erin's, Erin Lee Creative. These challenges came at the perfect time, as my new Papertrey Ink Halloween goodies just arrived on Monday. I bought cute patterned paper and the "Tiny Treats Halloween" stamp set, which has adorable little images that can be colored, along with teeny-tiny sentiments. And, of course, I had to continue my trend of using the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge. Isn't this little bird ghost the cutest?

Quick Get Well Card

A dear friend of ours had emergency brain surgery a few days ago. Luckily he is showing good improvement. I wanted to make a card for him, but my time is very limited with school starting on Tuesday. "Just Because Cards" was the perfect cartridge to use! I went with the "Get Whale Soon" card, and cut out everything at 5 1/2". The only thing that I did not cut out was the card base, because I thought it would be quicker to do that by hand. To make the card more of my own, I added some details: google eye, twine bow, embossed water, and stitching around the edge.

Classroom Welcome Poster

Class lists were posted this afternoon, so I was able to finish up my classroom welcome poster. I made the birds a couple of weeks ago (see this post) using 3 Birds on Parade. I used Papertrey Ink Cardstock to add my saying, using Straight From the Nest for "Soar" and Feeling Groovy for the rest of the letters. The little rick rack border was made using my ekSuccess punch and DCWV paper.

Student Bookmarks

The classroom projects continue! School starts next Tuesday, and I've been unable to get into my classroom because of construction issues. So instead, I'm spending a lot of time on projects that I really don't need to be doing right now. I decided to make a bookmark for each student to have on their desks the first day of school. I used my Gypsy and made these using the bookmark shape from Plantin Schoolbook with the Feeling Groovy font for the letters. I cut the letters out of patterned paper, and then I adhered the patterned paper to the same size bookmark shape in black. I hated to waste the cut-out letters, so I adhered them to black rectangles to create nametags to display on a bulletin board with student writing. I'll post a pic of the bulletin board when I can finally get it together!

I just finished making 16 postcards to send out to my new students to welcome them back to school. Class lists will be posted on Thursday, and I'll try to time these to arrive on Friday. The bird is from 3 Birds on Parade, cut at 3 3/4", and then I added in a piece of stamped binder paper cut at 1 3/4" x 2 1/2".

Teen Boy Birthday Card

My little boy is turning 15 on Monday AND having his first day of high school! I had fun making this card for him, and I think he's going to like it. I used the Dude! Cricut Lite cartridge for "Extreme" (cut at 2") and the skateboarder (cut at 3"). The number "15" is cut at 2" from Feeling Groovy and the circles beneath it are cut at 1 3/4" and 2" (read dial size ON) from Mini Monograms.

I had lots of trouble cutting the skateboarder using my Gypsy, since you can't really adjust the speed. The paper kept tearing. Part of the problem may have been that I was using Papertrey Ink cardstock, which usually cuts great, but I sometimes have trouble using it for intricate cuts. I switched to using my Cricut the old-fashioned way and using Core'dinations paper, and it worked perfectly!

First My Pink Designer Project!

I'm so excited to share my first My Pink Designer project! For this project, Robyn asked us to use the theme of critters or animals. I just love this fishbowl cut from Create a Critter, and Robyn's "Best Fishes" sentiment from My Pink Stamper's More Punny-licious Stamp Set adds the perfect touch! I added a layer of vellum to the bowl to give it more of a glass look. A twine bow around the top and some Stickles added the finishing touches.

Luckily, I do not live near a Walmart, but I had some time to kill while my son and nephew were at Great America on Friday, and I got sucked into one, LOL! I've really never been into owls, but they are just too darn cute on the Hoot 'n' Holler cartridge. I couldn't resist! I made this birthday card for a friend's 7 year old daughter using my favorite owl and a balloon from Create a Critter.

Classroom Job Chart

I decided that I needed a new classroom job chart, especially since I could make it cute with my Cricut! The black background tag is about 10" x 18", cut from Provocraft paper. All of the rest of the cardstock is from Papertrey Ink. I used Tags, Bags, Boxes and More for the job pockets (students names written on popsicle sticks will go in here) and Feeling Groovy for "Jobs". A variety of cartridges were used for the images: Doodlecharms, Graphically Speaking, Walk in My Garden, Locker Talk, Everyday Paper Dolls, Sports Mania, and French Manor.

"Cow's It Going?" Card

I'm loving My Pink Stamper's More Punny-licious Stamps! I designed this card around the "Cow's it going?" sentiment. The cuts on this card are all from Create a Critter, and the grass is from the Martha Stewart Icicle Punch. I also used the Stripes Cuttlebug folder on the barn. I flipped one of the cows so that they were facing each other, and I flipped the dialogue bubble as well. To add a little extra, I sewed around the blue patterned paper.

Teaching a 2/3 this year, I will be relying on the help of all of the other 2nd and 3rd grade teachers. I made these cute Post-it holders to leave on their desks the first day of school. My new stamp set from Papertrey Ink, "School Time", came in this week, and I just love it. I used it for the letter background on the gold paper, the binder paper, and the "Back to School" sentiment. The apple is from Create a Critter, cut at 1 1/4", and I used my Gypsy to hide the face.
