MCT 35th Edition Release Blog Hop!

Are you ready?  It's hopping and shopping day!  All of the wonderful My Creative Time stamps and dies that we have been sneaking this week can now be purchased!  If you just happened upon my blog, you might want to head over to Emma's blog, which is the beginning of the hop.

It was a little bittersweet making today's card.  I'm driving my son five hours away, to CalArts, on Monday for him to start his freshman year of college.  I thought this would be the perfect card to mail to him after I get home.  I started with a 4 1/4" card base and added a 4" blue square made with the die from 4x4 Journal Die + More.  Then I added a fun chevron strip that I made with a die from the new Tag Die Layers.  The dies in this new set are not only great for tags, but also make wonderful accents for other projects!

How cute is this polaroid camera???  All of the little pieces were made with dies from the new Picture Perfect set!  I added Glossy Accents on the two smallest black circles to make it look more realistic.

Now this is my favorite part!  Picture Perfect comes with this teeny-tiny polaroid die.  I printed a picture of Eric and me small enough to fit in it (a little less than an inch in width).  Then I popped on a heart made with a die from 4x4 Journal Die + More.  Isn't it the cutest little thing?

There are several different word dies in Picture Perfect and the tiny size of them is just adorable!

Here's a closer look at the three sets I used on today's card.  All of them are available for purchase now in the My Creative Time Store

My Creative Time August Sneak Peek #4

It's our last day of My Creative Time sneak peeks!  Today we have a great set of new dies that coordinate with the existing Tag Dies!  These are called Tag Die Layers!  These are a great edition to the My Creative Time collection!  I needed to make a quick birthday tag for a present last weekend, and I was able to in minutes with these dies.  I started by die cutting the original scalloped die from Tag Dies in navy and then cutting the new layer for it in white.  I added a little lime green round tab made with a die from Stitched Round Tab, Arrow & Tag Dies.

Now the fun thing about these layer dies is that they include some words!  I was able to cut my sentiment right out of the white layer.  Then I added the chevron (another die from this set) on top.  The heart was made with a die from 4x4 Journal Die + More.

These dies are super versatile.  I know I'll get a lot of use out of them making tags, but they will also be showing up on my cards and Project Life pages too!

MCT August Sneak Peek #3

Are you ready for more My Creative Time sneak peeks?  Today Emma and the design team are sneaking a stamp and die set and a separate die!  I used the separate die for my card.  It's the Camera Bottom Layer Die!  We finally have a layer to put behind our cute little Stitched Camera Die!  This die arrived at my house just in time for me to make this birthday card for my son, who is about to go off to college to study photography.  I thought the cameras were very appropriate.

My sweet design team sister Kim made up a ton of washi tape cameras a while back and sent them to me, and I knew they would be perfect for this card.  To make these, she adhered strips of My Mind's Eye washi tape to white cardstock and then cut them out with the Stiched Camera Die.  Aren't they cute? And then the layer made with the Camera Bottom Layer Die just really finishes them off!

In the corner I added a sentiment made with a "Smile" die cut and a stamp from Happy Thoughts, plus a little watercolor stripe from You are Fabulous.

My Creative Time August Sneak Peek #1

Can you believe it's already time for more My Creative Time sneak peeks?  Emma has come up with another really fun release!  Today we are sneaking a stamp set that a lot of people have been asking for:  Fun Vertical Greetings.  This set has six fun vertical sentiments that are designed to be used on the the Embossed Gift Card Holder!  They are perfect for when you decorate the gift card holder with the opening to the side instead of at the top.  I used the "Happy B-Day" sentiment for my project today, and it worked perfectly!  Of course, these sentiments could be used on other projects as well.

To make my presents, I used the largest of the Stitched Decorative Banner Dies, and then ran each banner cut through the Vagabond a second time, cutting the diagonal side of the banner with the straight side of the banner die.  I "tied" them together with some twine and added a little bone made with a die from Loyal Friends.

The cute little puppy and his bandana were also made with dies from Loyal Friends.  To get the woodgrain background on the front of the gift card holder, I stamped it with the Grainy Wood Background and Versamark Ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

MCT Inspiration Wednesday

It's Inspiration Wednesday with My Creative Time, and today I have a fun birthday card for a guy.  My inspiration for this card came from its recipient!  The friend I gave it to grew up on the shore and loves the ocean.  It's a 4 1/4" square card.  I used the My Creative Time Grainy Wood Background with Fine Linen ink on Kraft cardstock.  The sentiment is from MCT's Lost at Sea, heat embossed with white embossing powder.

I made this cute porthole with the dies from Lost at Sea, using some patterned paper from Echo Park's Splash in the center.  The fish, from Lost at Sea, were stamped on white cardstock, colored with Copic markers, and fussy cut.  Some little brads finished it off!

Be sure to stop by Emma's blog to see what she and the rest of the design team have for you today!
