MCT Inspire Me Wednesday

It's Inspire Me Wednesday with My Creative Time, a day where we take inspiration from somewhere and run with it! Today I made a little birthday card inspired by a card made by one of my favorite bloggers, Laura Bassen.  Laura's card had cute little animals peeking out of windows, and I thought it would be fun to do something similar for my friend who has three cats and three dogs!

To make this card, I started with my brown card base, added a cream layer, and then adhered a strip of yellow polka-dot patterned paper behind where my windows would be.  On this strip I adhered my two dogs, made with the Loyal Friends stamp and die set, and the cat, made with the You Had Me at Meow set.  I added a little heart from 4x4 Journal Die + More to the cat's collar.

Next I trimmed my blue flowered piece of patterned paper down the right side with one of the Fun Stitched Edges Dies and used one of the Square Stitched Goody Dies to make three windows in it.  I then adhered this to the card base with foam tape.  I die cut one of the Fun Speech Bubbles and stamped a sentiment from You Had Me at Meow onto it, masking off sections at a time to put it onto three lines instead of one.

Shine - It's Your Day!

Lexi Daly had a really fun Make it Monday video for Papertrey Ink this week, in which she adhered white die cuts to a card and then stamped on one of them.  I thought I'd try it out with this birthday card.  I die cut five lamps from PTI's Lighten Up set, and then stamped the coordinating stamps onto one of them using some Hero Arts inks.  The sentiment is part of the Lighten Up stamp set.  You can see Lexi's video and join in the challenge here.

Olaf Superstar Card!

My niece is in a singing concert this Friday, and it's all songs from Frozen.  I thought I'd make her a little card, and I was so happy to see that Cricut Design Space had the Frozen cuts in it!  I love how we can buy individual cuts for our Cricuts these days!  I cut out Olaf and placed him on a little mat made with the My Creative Time Stitched Oval Die.  The patterned papers are cut with MCT's Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies, and the sentiment is from MCT's new stamp set, You're My Hero.

MCT What a Treat Wednesday

It's What a Treat Wednesday with My Creative Time!  One of my colleagues has a birthday coming up, and I thought I'd make her a little treat box.  I found a cute Lori Whitlock pizza box cut in the Silhouette Online Store, and adjusted it to make it 3" x 3".  I cut the brown square at 2 3/4" and the white one at 2 1/2". Following Betsy Veldman's "Watercolor Smooshing" video tutorial, I inked up the background with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Fired Brick and Wild Honey before stamping it with the new My Creative Time Enjoy the Little Things stamp.  Then I added a pretty dimensional flower made with MCT's Jr. Rolled Flower Dies.

The box opens up to hold a good amount of treats!  Looks like I need to go shopping for some more before I give this to my friend.  Too much snacking has been taking place in the craft room!

MCT 42nd Edition Release Blog Hop

Welcome to the My Creative Time 42nd Edition Release Blog Hop!  You should have arrived here from the very talented Jessica.  If you just happened upon here, you might want to head over to Emma's blog, to the beginning of the hop.  This is a very fun release, and I hope you are as excited about it as we are!

For my project today, I created a fun 3-D hot air ballon with new The Sky is the Limit stamp and die set.  I first die cut the balloon in kraft and stamped the coordinating stamp on it.  I then die cut it three more times out of the rainbow chevron pattern and trimmed off the basket.  I scored each of these down the center and sewed them together down the score line.  After adhering the bottom of the three to the kraft balloon, I folded up the top two layers to get the 3-D effect!

The layers on my card base were made with the Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies & More, and I stamped a sweet sentiment from The Sky is the Limit onto the patterned layer. Some cute puffy clouds made with the new Fun Stitched Cloud Dies finished it off!

Here's a closer look at the new sets I used on today's projects.  They are available for purchase now in the My Creative Time Store
