MCT Manly Monday

It's Manly Monday with My Creative Time! For my project today, I made a birthday card for my brother-in-law.  I used the Circle Border Die to trim the edge of my card base.  I thought it would be fun to fill in the circles with pops of color, and I was able to do that using the large single circle die included in the set to make the circles that I adhered behind the small circular openings.  For the larger circular openings, I used a die from You Are Spot On.  To make the border really pop (and to give myself a place to write a message), I lined the inside of the card with a piece of light blue cardstock.

Next I heat embossed my sentiment, from the Just a Note stamp and die set, with white embossing powder.  The beer bottles are a cut from the Silhouette Online Store.  I added star die cuts to them from the 4x4 Journal Die + More set, and layered both of them onto a circle made with one of the More Stitched Circle Dies.

Snowflake Thank You

It's time to write those thank you notes!  I was browsing through some of my older stamps, and I came across this Papertrey Ink Snowflake Medley set.  It really has not gotten enough use!  I decided to heat emboss some flakes with white embossing powder, along with a sentiment from My Creative Time's Santa Stamps set, and then blend some Tim Holtz Distress Ink over them in Tumbled Glass.  Lastly, I trimmed the piece with one of the MCT Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies and then mounted it onto a light gray card base.  I like the soft effect!

Christmas Potbellies

Merry Christmas!  I did not get a single Christmas card sent out this year since I seemed to get sick with one thing after the other this last month, but I did spend some time this past weekend making 19 of these adorable Papertrey Ink Potbellies to have on our Christmas tables tonight!  I just couldn't resist these when they came out in a recent PTI release.  I hope you all have a wonderful day today!  

A Crocheted Scarf & a Tag

Merry Christmas Eve!  Are you ready?  I finished up this crocheted scarf for my mom just in time!  I made a beanie for her with this same Caron Simply Soft Yarn earlier this year that she wears when walking early in the morning, and she requested a matching scarf.  I pretty much followed the Little Red Riding Hooded Scarf pattern by Deja Joy on Ravelry for the stitches, but I just made it the length and width I liked.

I'm so happy to have the My Creative Time Made with Love stamp and die set for making tags to go with my crocheted and knitted gifts!  For this one, I heat embossed the sentiment and added a snowflake from the MCT Winter Flake Dies set.

On the back of the tag there are cute little stamped images that indicate the spots for me to write fiber content and care instructions!

MCT 86th Edition Release Blog Hop & Sale!

For my project today, I used a flower from the beautiful new Amazing stamp and die set.   I stamped it onto Strathmore Bristol cardstock and colored it with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens.  The "thank you" was made with two of the dies from You Dies #1, our freebie this month!  I just adore this font!!!  I adhered both of these to a cute little die cut made with one of the Stitched Postage Frame Dies and then trimmed off a corner of it to fit it onto my square card base.  Some pretty sequins finished off this card!

MCT 86th Edition Release Sneak Peek #2

Are you ready for another day of the My Creative Time 86th Edition Release sneak peeks?  Today we have some fun new die sets:  You Dies #1 and You Dies #2.  

I used You Die #2 for my project today.  This set contains four word dies:  thank, love, miss, and you. You Die #1 has the same four dies, but in a thinner font.  I love this chunky font, and I thought it would look really pretty in black on top of a water colored background.  I watercolored on some Strathmore Watercolor paper and then trimmed that piece with one of the XOXO Border Dies.  I mounted this on some polka-dot patterned paper, and then finished off the card with some pretty sequins!

MCT 86th Edition Release Sneak Peek #1

It's day 1 of My Creative Time's 86th Edition Sneak Peeks!  We have such a fun release for you this month, and I am so excited about today's sneak!  It is a gorgeous new stamp and die set called Amazing!

This set has the most beautiful flower stamps with coordinating dies!  I stamped them onto Strathmore Bristol cardstock and colored them with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens.  They really are such a huge focal point of the card, that the only other thing I needed was a strip of striped patterned paper and then my sentiment, from the Springtime Smiles stamp set.  I think it makes for a beautiful sympathy card.

Sporty Birthday Card

A boy in my class celebrated his birthday recently.  Since he is very sporty, I found cuts of a soccer, ball, basketball, and football in Cricut Design Space that would work perfectly!  I then made a background by putting strips of painter's tape across some white cardstock, inking up the remaining space with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Twisted Citron, and then adding some white polka dots using Hero Arts Hero Hues Unicorn Ink and a Heidi Swapp stencil.  A sentiment from My Creative Time's Time to Celebrate finished off this card!

MCT Thoughtful Tuesday

It's Thoughtful Tuesday with My Creative Time, a time to just let somebody know you are thinking about them.  I've always loved the little Watering Can Die, and I thought it would look cute filled up with some flowers from Thank You Mom.  I inked up a bit of a stamp from Get Schooled to give some interest to the background.  A sentiment from Friendship are Forever was perfect to finish off this card!

MCT Throwback Thursday

It's Throwback Thursday with My Creative Time!  Time to pull out those older MCT sets and make a fun project!  For my card today I used one of my favorite winter sets - last year's Chill Out, for the cute snowman, and the adorable The Adventure Begins set for the balloons.  I watercolored them on some Strathmore Watercolor paper. The sentiment is from Time to Celebrate.  Of course I used some MCT staples for my layers:  Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies & More and Stitched Postage Frame Dies.  I just love pulling together stamps and dies from old sets to make something new!

Birthday Shaker Card with Tulle!

I'm working my way through Online Card Classes' Clean & Simple Holiday, and I was so inspired by Jennifer McGuire's shaker cards made with tulle!  I thought it would be fun to try making a birthday card using this concept.

I started by trimming my light blue panel with one of My Creative Time's Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies.  After positioning this on top of my folded white card base, I ran it through my Vagabond with one of MCT's Stitched Circle Balloon Dies.  This cut through the blue piece and left an impression on the white card base, so I was able to remove the blue piece, nestle the die into that impression on the card base and run it through again.  This time it cut through the front of the card base and left an impression on the back part, so I opened up the card base, nestled the die into the impression on the back part, and ran it through a third time, with the card open.

Now I was ready to adhere a piece of tulle to the front of the card base, and another to the back of the blue piece.  I did this using 1/8" double sided tape, right around the edge of the balloon cut out.  Next I adhered the balloon string die cut and the "celebrate" die cut, which came from the MCT Let's Party Word Dies.

Now I was ready to put some sequins on top of the tule on the card base, add some liquid adhesive on the blue piece and put them together!  Such a fun card!

MCT 5 Days of Christmas - Day 5

Hello, and welcome to our 5th day of the My Creative Time 5 Days of Christmas!  Today we thought we would surprise you with a variety of ideas!

For my project today, I made a cute little treat box our new Sleigh and Sleigh Bed Dies!  I just love these!  And, I thought it would be fun to have the snowman from the Cute Snowman Gift Tag Die leading the sleigh (or maybe he was just hit by it - not sure).  Either way, he's pretty cute up front!

MCT 5 Days of Christmas - Day 4

For my project today, I made a fun little gift card holder using the Gift Card Gift Box Die.  This little box is the perfect size to decorate for any occasion!  I pulled out one of my favorite Christmas sets to embellish it:  No Peeking.  The stocking die from this set is just too cute, and I love how the sentiments fit onto it perfectly!  I finished off this project with some pretty twine and a few sequins.

MCT 5 Days of Christmas - Day 3

Hello, and welcome to our 3rd day of the My Creative Time 5 Days of Christmas!  Today we will all be showcasing some quick and easy cards!

For my card today, I decided to use a watercolor background that I'd made for another project some time back and ended up not using.  I thought it made a nice background for the Winter Flake Dies.  I then made a panel using silver and white pieces of cardstock, die cutting openings in them, using the Scalloped Stitched Circles Dies.  The sentiment is from Christmas Wishes.  I tied a bit of baker's twine onto this front panel and then popped it up onto the card base using some dimensional adhesive.

Since I knitted up a cowl as a gift for somebody special, I just had to make a tag to go with it!  I used the tag die from Made with Love, but I ran it through my Vagabond with the top plate just covering half of the die and then slid the die down to make a longer size tag before putting the top plate on the other half, running it through the Vagabond again.  The "knitted with love" sentiment and the adorable heart ball of yarn stamp and die are all from Made with Love.  I found the "ho ho ho" sentiment in the Mini Christmas Greetings stamp set, and the darling little tree die cut is from the Holiday Tag set!

Ninth Birthday Card

I just love this snake cut from the Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge!  He usually holds the number 8, but it's easy to swap out the numbers in Cricut Design Space.  I made this card for one of my students.  A quick watercolor of the background and a sentiment from My Creative Time's Prehistoric Holidays finished off the card!

MCT 3D Wednesday

It's 3D Wednesday with My Creative Time!  I just love the new Gift Card Gift Box Die, so I had to use it today to make a cute little fall themed box!  I dressed it up with the pumpkin from the Cute Pumpkin Tag Die and a tag made with the Teeny Tag Layering Dies and a sentiment from Teeny Tag Holidays!

MCT Made in Minutes

It's Made in Minutes with My Creative Time!  There are so many MCT goodies that are perfect for making quick projects, and I used a couple of them for making a treat box today:  the Mini Gift Box Die and the Reindeer Lollipop Holder Die!    The Mini Gift Box Die makes an adorable little treat box all on its own, but how cute is it when you attach this reindeer head from the lollipop holder die to the front of it?  To cover up the holes on the front of the reindeer die cut, I added a fun bow made with the Fun Size Scallop Stitched Bow Die.

This new set is so adorable!  It comes with three cute tag dies and six big sentiments in a pretty font, along with a gorgeous snowflake stamp and "to" and "from" stamps for the back of your tags.  This is such a great set for making quick, cute tags!  You can see how quick it was for me to make the snowflake tag - I just cut it out of some fun patterned paper and stamped it!  For the other two, I had fun doing a layering effect, which was also pretty fast.  I just die cut the tags multiple times in different colors, and then used my Misti Stamping Tool to stamp the sentiment in the exact same spot in each.  Then, when I cut the different colors and adhered the layers together, the sentiments lined up perfectly!

We recently celebrated another birthday in my classroom, and I used Lori Whitlock's Card Kit Flower Pot, which I purchased from the Silhouette Online Store, to make this cute little card. The cut comes with the flowers and little scalloped circles that go in the center of them.  I added leaves made with My Creative Time's Stitched Leaves Dies and MCT's Stitched Button Dies for the centers of the flowers.  I cut the flowers with papers from my scraps and popped them up with dimensional adhesive.  The tag was die cut using MCT's Chunky Jar Accessories and stamped with a sentiment from that same set.

The card pulls out of the flowerpot, leaving a big area to write a message.  So fun!

MCT Tag It Tuesday

It's Tag It Tuesday with My Creative Time!  It's finally feeling like fall around here, so I thought I'd made a pretty tag that would be perfect to tie onto a Thanksgiving treat!  I used the Tag Dies and Tag Die Layers for my tag base.  The adorable pumpkin is from the Pumpkin Lollipop Holder Die - such a versatile die!  Finally, I made the sentiment using stamps and a die from Build a Fall Wreath.

Celebrate!

I pulled out the Papertrey Ink Celebrate Big stamp and die set for this card, and it was easy to pull together a fun party look!  I used the My Creative Time Scalloped Stitched Rectangular Dies to dress up the background, added a few sequins, and that was it!

MCT Thoughtful Tuesday

It's Thoughtful Tuesday with My Creative Time, and I decided to pull out the beautiful Tulip Frame Die to make a "thinking of you" card.  I adhered the die cut onto a watercolor background that I created using Tim Holtz distress inks.  I then layered this onto one more layer of black cardstock, cut with one of the Stitched Square Dies Inside & Out.  The sentiment is from Mini Spring Greetings.  Since I was using a white card base, I also added a little white heart die cut, made with a die from 4x4 Journal Die + More.  I kind of like how this turned out with a sunset silhouette look!
