MCT Throwback Thursday

It's Throwback Thursday with My Creative Time!  Time to pull out those older MCT sets and make a fun project!  Of course, I never seem to be able to use just one set a time, so I actually used three on this card.  That adorable paper airplane was made with one of my favorite dies of all time:  Fun Paper Airplane.  It's only $5, if you want to add it to your cart next time you shop, and it comes with the cute little trailing heart stamp that I used in the corner of my card.

Next I used Thanks for the Lift for the "love you" stamp - another gem, which I realized when I linked to it is on sale!  Finally, I used my favorite Fun Stitched Cloud Dies to finish off this scene.

The pink paper was from my scraps, but I wanted a pretty blue for the sky, and I wasn't finding anything in my collection.  Did any of you have the Cricut Imagine?  If you did, and you registered it, you have access to all of the patterns they made for it in Cricut Design Space.  I need to remember to utilize that more often!  I just printed off a rectangle with that pretty plaid for my background.

Congratulations Card

I saw this sweet little tree cut in the Cricut Bloom cartridge and thought it would be adorable on a congratulations card I needed to make.  To create my card base, I used Papertrey Ink's Cover Plate: Diagonal Stripes, but since my card is 3 1/2" x 5", I trimmed off the edges after adhering it to the card.  The "grass" was created with one of My Creative Time's Fun Stitched Edges Dies, and the sentiment is from MCT's Tweet Me.

MCT Inspire Me Wednesday

It's another Inspire Me Wednesday with My Creative Time!  Last week I saw a card that Kristina Werner made and was inspired by a technique she used.  Following her method, I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens on Strathmore Bristol Cardstock to create a watercolor background.  After drying it with my heat tool, I stamped the cute coffee cup from Just Brew It! with Versamark Ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

I then used the coordinating die to cut out my cups, and adhered them to my background, which was made with one of the new XOXO Border Dies.  The sentiment and heart were also created with Just Brew It!  I love getting inspiration from other card makers.  Check out Kristina's video if you haven't seen it!

Hedgehog Birthday

One of my students is celebrating a birthday this week, and when I saw this cute little hedgehog cut on the Cricut Live Simply cartridge, I couldn't resist!  To make it really easy, I used him with a design I had used on a previous card I'd made.  The balloon is from the Cricut Celebrations cartridge, and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Desktop Design.

MCT 75th Edition Blog Hop & Sale!

Welcome to the My Creative Time 75th Edition Release Blog Hop!  You should have arrived here from the very talented Jessica.  If you just happened upon here, you might want to head over to Emma's blog, to the beginning of the hop.  This is a very fun release, and I hope you are as excited about it as we are!

For my card today, I started with a white card base and used my Scor-Pal to give it scored horizontal lines, just to add a bit of texture.  I wanted to do something a little different with the new die.  I cut a piece of Stick It Adhesive larger than the die and adhered it to a piece of printer paper.  After pulling up the liner, leaving the adhesive exposed, I lay down 1/4" strips of cardstock to create a piece of striped patterned paper, which I then cut with one of the new rectangular XOXO border dies.  So cute! I added that to my card, and then added hearts made with a die from the I Adore You kit.  The sentiment is also from the kit.  Some Simon Says Stamp Moonshine Confetti finished off this card!

Here's a closer look at the XOXO Border Dies.  This set is available now in the My Creative Time Store

It's our last day of the My Creative Time 75th Edition sneak peeks!  Tomorrow is the day you can finally see this awesome release in its entirety and get shopping!  But first, we have one last die set for you to get a peek at.  Cute Heart Tag Die is perfect for making a sweet little tag to give with a Valentine's gift or a special gift for that someone special any time of the year!

There are three parts to the Cute Heart Tag Die:  the base, which I cut in kraft, a layer to cover the front part (this tag opens like a card), which I cut in red, and another layer, which I cut in white with paper from the DCWV Woven Paper Stack.  You can keep it as simple as that, or dress it up a bit!  I added a little banner, using a die from 4x4 Journal Die + More and a sentiment from Ouch!

MCT 75th Edition Sneak Peek #2

Are you ready for another day of My Creative Time sneak peeks?  Today we have another fun new die set, called XOXO Border Dies!  This set includes four rectangular dies that have the most adorable XOXO stitching around the edges.  Perfect for Valentine's Day or a little love note!  It also has a nice sized "XOXO" die!

For my project today, I made a card using the new XOXO Border Dies!  I loves these adorable rectangles with the fun stitching!  For my card, I decided to cover the whole card base with some fun patterned paper from the Recollections' Girlsquad pack.  I then added a rectangle made with the smallest of the four border dies and layered flowers from Thank You Mom on top of it.  The cute "XOXO" was also made with a die from the XOXO Border Die set!  I finished off the card with a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins.

MCT 75th Edition Sneak Peek #1

It's day 1 of My Creative Time's 75th Edition Sneak Peeks!  We have quite an adorable release to share with you this week!  First off is More Scalloped Heart Dies!  This set contains five dies - 2 stitched hearts, each with an adorable scalloped layer, plus a "love" die.

For my card today I used three of the new dies.  I cut "love" from black cardstock and layered it over the two heart die cuts.  Don't you love the teeny heart cut-outs in the scallops?  So adorable!  All of the patterned papers I used today are from a darling paper pad I picked up at Michael's, called Girlsquad, from Recollections.

I made the banner using one of MCT's Sentiment Label Dies. Since I was using the little heart dies from 4x4 Journal Die + More and had that set out, I used the large square die from that set to cut off the top of the banner to make it just the right size for my card.

Go-Kart Birthday

My nephew's birthday is next weekend, and he is planning a go-kart party, so this cut I found in the Silhouette Online Store was just perfect for his card!  I wanted some black and white checked paper to add to the card and didn't have any, so I found a free pattern online, uploaded it to Cricut Design Space, and then did a print and cut with my Cricut Maker.  Perfect!  Then, my background was looking a bit plain, so I used my Scor-Pal to add some embossed lines.  Finally, I added the perfect sentiment, from My Creative Time's The Adventure Begins stamp set.

MCT Birthday Palooza

It's a Birthday Palooza with My Creative Time!  We always need to make birthday cards, right?  I made this one for my sister-in-law.  She's just getting into mountain bike riding, so I thought the adorable little bike stamp from the Main Street stamp set would be perfect!  I inked it up using Hero Arts Shadow Ink in Bubble Gum, Orange Soda, Butter Bar, Green Hills, and Cornflower.  Then I used the die and a stamp from Happy Everything to make my sentiment.  Some Simon Says Stamp's Moonshine Confetti finished off this card.

Be sure to stop by Emma's blog for more birthday inspiration!

Quick & Easy Thank You

If you're still working on thank you notes from the holidays, I have a very quick and easy idea for you.  I started with a piece of Strathmore Bristol cardstock, and made a 3 1/2" x 5" card base.  I inked up a small portion with Tim Holtz distress inks, using Tumbled Glass and Twisted Citron.  Then, I just added a fun die cut (hearts from the new My Creative Time I Adore You kit) and a sentiment (from MCT's Hey There Little Lady).  Super simple, but I love how it turned out!

Sending You Love

I just love the new My Creative Time I Adore You kit!  I used it again for today's card, using the same Tim Holtz Distress Ink's, Candied Apple and Worn Lipstick, that I used last week.  After inking it up, I used the sweet "Love" die and cut twice, layering the die cuts on the card.  The "sending you" stamp is from a retired MCT set, Pain Pain Go Away.  A few gold Neat & Tangled sequins finished it off!

MCT 48 Hour Flash Sale & Blog Hop!

Good morning and welcome to another 48 Hour Flash Sale!  This sale is for 48 hours ONLY and will end on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at 7 AM PST.

For my project today, I started with the beautiful heart stencil from the kit and used two different Tim Holtz Distress Inks with it:  Candied Apple and Worn Lipstick.  I then used one of the pretty heart dies and made two die cuts.  I inked up one of the outline hearts with the Candied Apple ink and adhered it to the second outline heart to give it a lot of dimension before adhering it to my card base.  I then adhered one of the plain white heart inlay parts inside.  For the second inlay piece, I first inked it up with the Worn Lipstick ink before adhering it inside.  Finally I added a sweet sentiment from the kit and a few of Simon Says Stamp's Moonshine Confetti.

Cricut Bright Pad Case

I got a Cricut Bright Pad for Christmas, and I was really excited to find Lorrie Nunemaker's YouTube video giving detailed instruction on how to sew a case for it!  Her videos are awesome, which I really appreciate since I do not know how to sew.  This is actually only my third attempt at sewing on fabric (I bought my sewing machine years ago for stitching on cards), and going right to a project with a zipper in it may not have been the best idea.  I think this project took her about 30 minutes, and it took me 6 hours!  However, I did finish it, and even though it's not perfect, I am pretty happy with it!

One of the best parts Lorrie's tutorial is that she has you make pockets inside to hold the power cable and tools!  I got all of my fabrics at Joann's.  For the outside, I bought outdoor canvas, and for the lining, I bought a cotton print.

I also used my Cricut Easy Press to iron on "shine bright" that I purchased on Etsy and cut with my Cricut Maker.  The Bright Pad is so handy to help with weeding!

MCT Weird Holiday

Happy New Year!  It's time to celebrate a "weird holiday" with My Creative Time!  Did you know that January 5th is Bird Day?  Neither did I!  But it was a good excuse to use a couple of my favorite MCT sets, Tweet Me and Fun Tweet Me Dies to make the cute bird and branch on my treat box!  For the treat box itself, I used the Milk Carton Die, cutting a circle in it with one of the More Stitched Circle Dies.  Lastly, I stamped a sentiment from Tweet Me onto a cute little bread tag made with with one of the Fun Stitched Tag Dies.  Have a happy Bird Day!
