I thought I'd share another school project that I was working on last weekend. I like to make bookmarks for my students to have on their desks the first day of school. This year I used my Silhouette Cameo, which made it very easy! I designed a tag shape, plus a longer version for the longer names, and created layers using the offset feature. I then added each student's name inside of a tag, using the Stencil font. All of the tags were cut with my scraps of patterned paper, and I used black Bazzill paper for the back layers. I added some eyelets and ribbon, and that was it! Okay, I think I'm finished with making sets of 20 projects at a time!

ReplyDeleteKatie ~ Oh these are PERFECT for your student! I LOVE how you personalized each one of them! Your students are so FORTUNATE to have you! Oh look you have a Ryan too! Bet he doesn't know EVERYTHING about farming and equipment! He is probably more polished ~ LOL! Well I have to say all your projects have been wonderful ~ this one will be so useful for the students! I can't even imagine making so many different projects time 20 of each but they will leave a HUGE impression on your students!

ReplyDeleteThis post couldn't have come at a better time! I was thinking a few nights ago that I needed to make some bookmarks for my reader friends. This is perfect. The eyelet is a great idea, so it won't rip. Thanks for the inspiration! When I have children I want them to have teachers like you!! :)
ReplyDeleteI really love this idea. I wonder if there is a way to do this with my Cricut machine (without a Gypsy). I'm trying to figure out how I can cut the tag shapes and the lettering cuts at the same time to make that negative-space lettering as Katie has done.
ReplyDeletePerhaps if I just do it in two passes and carefully calculate the measurements where the lettering has to "hit". Or else I'll just cut out tags and do the lettering separate as positive images to glue on top rather than negative space lettering as Katie has done with the black layer behind. In any case, what child wouldn't love to have a bookmark like this?!
