MCT Scrappy Monday!

It's Scrappy Monday with My Creative Time, and today we are sharing some spooky Halloween layouts!  I had the perfect Halloween story to scrap, so I was very excited about this assignment.  When my son Eric was in fifth grade, he picked out a very creepy mask.  My niece, who was 2 1/2 at the time, was absolutely terrified of it.  We kept having Eric take it off, and we'd say, "See?  It's just Eric!"  Throughout trick-or-treating that night, she would get scared when she would look at him and then try to calm herself down by repeating over and over, "It's just Eric.  It's just Eric."  Too cute!

I used a Jana Eubanks sketch for my 12 x 12 layout.  There is a link to it at the bottom of this post.  My pictures are printed at 3" x 4".

For my title, I used the Cricut Blackletter cartridge, using my Gypsy to cut the letters out of a circle made with the Mini Monograms cartridge.  The bats are from the Chic & Scary cartridge, cut at 1 1/2" and 1".  You can see my crazy sewing pretty well in this picture.  Sometimes I get crazy stitches like this, and I have no idea why.  Maybe some of you can shed some light?  The correct looking stitch ended up on the back of the paper.  Anyway, I kind of liked it for this layout, so I kept it.

I used the spiderweb and spider stamps from the My Creative Time Treats for My Sweet stamp set and heat embossed them with black embossing powder.  Very spooky!

This scary cat is cut at 3" from the Chic & Scary  cartridge.

Since my niece was dressed up as a cat and was scared, I could resist putting this "scaredy cat" button next to her picture.  I made it with the MCT Scallop & Stitched Circle Dies and Treats for My Sweet.

For the picture of Eric and his friend, I added a couple of sentiments from Treats for My Sweet on little banners made from the MCT Build a Banner Kit.  I stamped the spiderweb with Versamark ink to give a little different look.

  8. I love both the layout and the story! A similar experience was shared by my grand-daughter, we had to keep explaining it was her brother - now I will have to memorialize it like you did if I may?
You asked about the stitches - one of two things may have happened - the tension sometimes causes the bobbin thread to pull through to the top, this happens if the fabric, or paper in this case, is too thick or you accidentally changed from a straight stitch to a decorative one. I would check your tension first - hope this helps - sorry for the long comment!
