MCT Trending Now - Heat Embossing!

It's Trending Now with My Creative Time today, and we're focusing on the heat embossing trend.  I think this is a trend that is here to stay.  There are so many fun techniques to use with heat embossing!  I used a very simple technique of heat embossing a sentiment from the Seasonal Greetings stamp and die set on my card today.  I used Hero Arts Platinum embossing powder, which has a beautiful tone.  I wanted my cards to have some dimensional hearts that matched the sentiment, so I die cut them out of white cardstock, using dies from the Ouch stamp and die set, and then attached them to a narrow strip of cardstock with a bit of double-sided tape, covered them with Versamark ink, and heat embossed them with that same embossing powder.  As soon as the powder melted, I added more and melted that layer, repeating the process three times.  I love the end results this yields, with my shiny metallic hearts!

I was recently inspired by some cards with stitched hearts made by Nichol Spohr.  She used some stitching dies to make her hearts.  I didn't have any, so I took a heart die from Stitched Belly Band Dies, and ran it through my Vagabond, with it set up as if I was embossing, using an embossing mat.  This left the impression of the heart without cutting it, and I was then able to pencil in where I wanted to make holes, and then I used a paper piercer to create the holes.  Finally, I used crochet thread for the stitching.

The pretty mats were made with the Postage Frame Dies and Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies.
