Birthday Candles!

Merry Christmas Eve!  I'm ready to move on from Christmas crafting, so I thought I'd share the birthday card that I made for one of my sweet crafty friends!  Because I knew I was going to mail it in a bubble envelope, I didn't have to worry about it being a standard size.  Instead, I just cut it the right size for my elements, which ended up being 4 1/4" x 4 3/4"

The birthday candles are cut at 2" from the Cricut Wrap It Up cartridge.  To make the frame for them, I die cut kraft cardstock with the My Creative Time Stitched XL Label Die and then stamped it with kraft ink and a background stamp from MCT's Script Type Backgrounds.  I used my sewing machine to add some wavy lines to it and then mounted it on the aqua layer cut with the XL Label Die.

I wrapped some kraft ribbon around the cream layer before adhering it to the card base and tied a pretty button to it with Kraft Thick Hemp Twine from Liz's Paper Loft Boutique.

The fun sentiment is from MCT's Wow!  So Many Candles stamp set.

Pop-Up Baby Card with Video

I'm so thrilled to be guest designing for My Creative Time today!  I was able to hang out with Emma and her boys last week, and I can tell you first hand that Baby Aaron is doing great!  Emma is focusing her full attention on bringing him back to full health, so the guest designers are trying to keep you entertained in the meantime!  I have a fun project for you today, but first I want to remind you that Emma is having a customer appreciation sale this weekend!  Everything is 20% off, including sale items!  Be sure to head over to the store to check it out.

Today I have a fun baby card for you that has a pop-up surprise inside!  I started with an A2 size aqua card base and added a brown layer and then a rustic white layer that was run through my Cuttlebug with the Papertrey Ink Woodgrain Impression Plate.

I used my Gypsy to alter some wooden blocks from the Cricut Wrap It Up cartridge, using letters from the A Child's Year cartridge.  Check out the video further down in this post for the how-to details.

This sweet sentiment is from My Creative Time's All Star Baby stamp set.  I just love this set; it's full of precious sentiments.

Now, for the fun part!  On the inside of the card I added a pop-up baby carriage that I made using the Everyday Pop-Up Cards cartridge.  I know a lot of people have difficulty with the lack of directions on this cartridge, so I made a video showing how to assemble it:

I added another little sentiment from All Star Baby on the inside.  Don't forget to head on over to the store for the sale!

Valentine Cubes

EAD Designs sells some fun vinyl rub-ons that are perfect for 2 1/2" wooden blocks.  I didn't have any blocks, but I thought it would be fun to make paper cubes that could showcase my favorite Valentine's Day paper, My Mind's Eye Love Me.  Using 12 x 12 kraft paper from The Paper Company, I cut the cubes from the Cricut Wrap It Up cartridge at "Fit to Page."  The patterned paper is cut at 2 1/2" x 2 1/2".

When you purchase the rub-ons, you choose your holiday and color.  I chose the brown Valentine collection, which contains 5 different rub-ons.

My Creative Time's 3-D Wednesday

Emma is starting something new at My Creative Time:  3-D Wednesdays!  Each week she and a few members of the design team will be creating something that is NOT a card or layout!  For my project today I created a little snowflake box full of gift tags.

I began by cutting the box from the Cricut Wrap It Up cartridge at 10 1/2".  I used my Gypsy so that I could hide the score marks.  It's easy to tell where to score this one, and I prefer not to have the little notches cut out.

Once it was cut, I was ready to stamp my background.  To keep the two snowflake halves from getting ink on them, I covered them with post-it notes.  I then created my own background by stamping the snowflake from My Creative Time's Anyday Bingo & Crossword.

The next step was to glitter up my snowflake.  I covered each half with my Zig 2 Way Glue, and then covered them with glitter.

I love how the sparkly glitter makes that snowflake pop!

Tucked inside of my box are these tags.  I made all of them with My Creative Time's Scallop & Stitched Circle Die and the All Around Christmas stamp set.

Each of the images was colored with Copics, and I used the same Zig 2 Way plus glitter technique on Mrs. Claus and Santa's outfits.

On the back of each tag I stamped "To" & "From" with stamps from My Creative Time's Gift Card Sentiments.  Be sure to stop by Emma's blog to see what everybody else created for you today!
