It's time for the October Papertrey Ink Blog Hop Challenge! This month we are being challenged to create a holiday card in non-traditional colors, and I chose the hawaiian shores, aqua mist, simply chartreuse, and new leaf color combination. I've been wanting to try using some of the hexagons from the Hexagon Die Cover Plate as ground cover, and this was a great opportunity. After running the cover plate through my Vagabond, I used a craft knife to trim out a bunch of the hexagons, leaving the border.
Next I stamped each hexagon piece with a pattern from Happy Hexagons, using Versamark ink and clear embossing powder. I love the look it created! I also tried out an awesome embossing technique I learned from Heather Nichols. Did you know that you can take a stamp and press it first into your Versamark pad and then any ink that you choose? When you cover it with clear embossing powder and heat it, you end up with an embossed image in the color of the ink! No need to buy any colors of embossing powder!!! I used hawaiian shores ink and clear embossing powder for the hat and gloves on this snowman, and I used new leaf ink on simply chartreuse cardstock for the scarf.
For this little guy I used new leaf ink with clear embossing powder on the hat cut from new leaf cardstock and the scarf cut from hawaiian shores cardstock. The sentiment is from On Ice.
