Scrappy Monday

Welcome to Scrappy Monday with My Creative Time!  Today Emma has asked us to create Fall or Thankgiving themed layouts.  I love this picture of my son, taken when he was a little ten-year-old playing on a haystack at a pumpkin farm we visited.  The colors of his clothes led to the gray background, and then the red of the barn turned it to a non-traditional fall color scheme, but I think I like it!  I also played with the zig zag shape of one of the banner elements, repeating it with the chevron paper, journaling tag, sewing stitch, and the border of the blue paper.

The sweet banner was made with the My Creative Time Build a Banner Kit.  I used the letters and the leaf from MCT's Anyday Bingo & Crossword to spell out "Fall Fun" and attached the whole thing to my background papers with some cute screw brads made by Recollections.

This adorable barn was made with the Cricut Pop-Up Neighborhood cartridge, cut at 4 1/2".  I used the Papertrey Ink Background Basics:  Farm & Barn stamp set to get the wood beam look on it.  Underneath you can see a bit of my blue grid paper.  To get that border, I made a rectangle in Silhouette Studio Designer Edition, and then used the pinking shear knife to trim off the top and the bottom.

This funny little scarecrow is cut at 4" from the Cricut Cheerful Seasons cartridge.  The original cut has his face brown, like the hat, but I cut it twice so that I could trim off the brown face and have the white one showing instead.  I didn't have a good scarecrow face stamp, so I just drew one.  The scarecrow is resting on a piece of burlap from Liz's Paper Loft Boutique.  I used one of the MCT Just Tags Dies to create the shape of it.

For my journaling, I used the bottom half of a tag cut with MCT's Tag Dies.

Back to School Postcard

Class lists get posted this afternoon, so I can now mail off my "Welcome to Ms. Jones' Class" postcards to my new students!  I like to do this every year so that they get something special in the mail before the first day. I made these postcards by welding together images from several Cricut cartridges:  a 4 3/4" apple from Cheerful Seasons, a 4 1/4" worm from Create a Critter, and a 2" book from Recess.  They are a postcard style card, so I can just write my message on the back.

I added some fun details to make these extra cute.  The apple was run through the Cuttlebug with the Seeing Spots embossing folder.  I hid the face on the worm with my Gypsy so that I could stamp a face from the Peachy Keen Larger Critter Face Stamps, and then I added some Glossy Accents to the eyeglasses.  For the book, I stamped the pages with Papertrey Ink's Background Basics:  Farm & Barn stamp set.  To make this very subtle, I used Fine Linen Ink and stamped it onto scratch paper before stamping onto the actual cut.  The sentiment is from My Creative Time's My Teacher Rocks stamp set.
