MCT Scrapping the Little Things

Welcome to another My Creative Time Scrapping the Little Things!  This is the day that Emma and some design team members showcase Project Life, Smash Books, or traditional layouts.  Since today is April Fools, we thought it would be fun to scrap some silly themes.  I found these funny pics of my son from a couple of years ago.  We were out shopping, when my niece decided to dress him up.  He was such a good sport!

I found the perfect title for my layout in the Cricut 3 Birds on Parade cartridge.  I cut it at 2" and replaced the dot on the "i" with a metallic sticker.  I also added a crown cut with a die from MCT's Chunky Die Accessories.

This layout definitely needed a purse, and I found this one on the Cricut Paisley cartridge.  I cut it at 2" and added a flower made with MCT's Stitched Button Dies. As a background, I added a frame made with MCT's Stitched Postage Frame Die.

I found the perfect sentiment for my layout on MCT's Camera Shy

I used MCT's Stitched Tag Dies for my journaling.  To make a fun scalloped border along the base of my pictures, I used one of the dies from MCT's Treat Slider Box.  Since these were only a few inches long, I covered the seams with more of the stitched flower buttons.

Snail Mail Valentine

I've got another fun Valentine card for you today!  To make this, I took the shadow of the cute snail from the Cricut Paisley cartridge at 3.13" and welded it to a 1.38" x 2" rectangle.  I then duplicated this and flipped the copy to weld them together at the top, creating my card base.  I cut that, along with one more of the welded snail/rectangle to adhere to the top.

The size of rectangle welded to the snail was the perfect base for an envelope cut with the My Creative Time Embossed Envelope Die.  I stamped it with a sentiment from MCT's Lots of Love stamp set and added a cute little heart cut with MCT's Stitched Heart Layering Dies.

Before cutting the snail, I used my Gypsy to hide the facial features and instead stamped this cute face from Peachy Keen's Large Critter Faces.  I colored the mouth with a Copic marker and the eyes with a white gelly roll pen before covering the glasses with Glossy Accents.

Instead of using the layers that come with the snail, I cut a cute heart with the Stitched Heart Die that's included in MCT's 100% Sweetness stamp set and added a button made with Papertrey Ink's Buttoned Up #2 Die.  Some kraft hemp from Liz's Paper Loft Boutique finished it off!  All of these cute patterned papers are from Echo Park's Love Story collection.  So fun!

Notebooks for the Kids

Here are the end of the year gifts I made for my students.  I had each of them fill out a little questionnaire about their favorite colors, sports, and animals a few weeks ago, and then I used the information to make them personalized notebook covers.  The notebooks inside are 5" x 8" (from Staples), so I cut my base at 10 1/2" x 8 1/4", scored at 5 1/8" and 5 3/8".  I then added layers cut at 4 7/8" x 8" and 4 5/8" x 7 3/4".  The topmost layer at the bottom of each notebook was cut at 4 5/8" in width and whatever height that worked well for that particular cut.  I then added a border cut with either the ekSuccess Bumpy Roads edger punch or the Martha Stewart Icicles punch.

I cut each of my students' names with my Silhouette.  Both the archery and the ballet shoe cuts are from the Silhouette online store.

Here's a look at the inside.  To be sure that the notebook would stay put, I used Scor-Tape across the top and bottom of the back and ATG down the sides of the back.  I adhered a 1" x 5" piece of patterned paper across the top, to cover the "Staples" label.

The baseball and football players are cut from the Cricut Sports Mania cartridge.

The horse is from Noah's ABC Animals, and the soccer player is from Sports Mania.  I also used some Cuttlebug embossing folders.  The one on the left is called Stylized Flower.

Both of the gymnasts are from the Silhouette Online Store.  I love that when I don't have a certain cut that I need on one of my Cricut cartridges, I can just go there and buy one for 99 cents!  The embossing folder I used on the left is called Bricks, and the one on the right is Spots & Dots.

Both the wolf and the cow are from Noah's ABC Animals.  Here I used the Seeing Spots and Distressed Stripes embossing folders.

The dog is from Everyday Pop-Up Cards, and the monkey is from Create a Critter.

I used Paisley for the zebra, and the kangaroo is from Birthday Bash.  The kids' reactions when I gave these out were really cute.  One of the boys asked everybody to hold theirs up at the end so he could see them all. That definitely made it worth all of my effort!
