Valentine Treat Box

Last week I shared a Valentine Treat Bag I that I planned on making for all of my students.  Once I got going, however, I realized the design was too time consuming.  I kept that design for the girls in my class, and I came up with this design for the boys.  I found this cute little box with the heart enclosure in the Cricut Tags, Bags, Boxes & More cartridge.

I decorated the box with lots of My Creative Time products.  The heart is from Stitched Belly Band Dies, and I stamped "Flying by to say" from the retired set, Fly Away With Me Sentiments.  The "Happy Valentine's Day" sentiment is from Teeny Tag Holidays.  I added my favorite little plane, made with the Fun Paper Airplane Die, and adorned it with a heart made with a die from 4x4 Journal Die + More.

Now I just need to finish putting a dozen of these together before next Thursday!

Mother's Day Card Box

I made my mom a bunch of cards for Mother's Day (you can see the one peeking out of the box in yesterday's post), and this is the box I made to hold them.  The matchbox cut is from the Cricut Tags Bags Boxes and More cartridge.  I cut the base at 5.5", out of kraft cardstock.  The sleeve is cut at 5.6" out of Pink Paislee patterned paper.

To decorate the top, I began by cutting a 4" branch designed by Kerri Bradford, using my Silhouette.  The green paper is from the Martha Stewart Woodland Mat Pad, from last year's Christmas collection.  I made the flowers with the My Creative Time Rolled Flower Dies, using paper from the Teresa Collins' Spring Fling collection.

This sweet sentiment is from MCT's Mom You Rock stamp set.  I used the MCT Fancy Frame Stamp & Die Set to make the frame.

MCT 12 Days of Christmas - Day 10

Welcome to the My Creative Time "12 Days of Christmas"!  Wow!  We are already up to Day 10!  I hope you have been enjoying all of the great inspiration from Emma and the rest of the design team.  I know I have! So, as you can see on my blog, I've been making lots of different Christmas cards.  This is great, except that I usually like to send photo cards out to friends and family whom we don't see often.  They love to see new pictures of Eric, and I think they'll really like to see how he is towering over me this year!  Today I thought of a solution:  I made some pockets for photo tags to put INSIDE of my cards!

First I found some thin patterned paper that coordinated with the card but wouldn't add too much bulk.

I cut a piece at 5 1/4" x 4" for the writing area of the card and stamped a sentiment from Emma's Gift Card Sentiments stamp set.

To make my pocket, I took the blackout of a 7 1/2" tag pocket cut from the Cricut Tags, Bags, Boxes & More cartridge and hid all of the score marks on my Gypsy.  I also slid most of the back part of the pocket off of the screen of my Gypsy so that it would not cut.  I really only wanted the front of the pocket, the sides, and 1/4" of the back, so that my pocket would not add to much bulk to my card.  If you don't have a Gypsy, you can make the whole pocket cut, and then just trim off most of the back.  Before scoring the pocket, I inked the edges, stamped a cute Christmas tree from Emma's All Around Christmas stamp set, and colored it with Copics.  I then adhered the three folded flaps of the pocket to my card with scor tape.

The tag is cut at 3 3/4" on blackout, also from Tags, Bags, Boxes & More.  This was the perfect size for my 2" x 3" photo.  I used my Crop-a-Dile to add a hole and an eyelet, and then added some twine that can be used to pull the tag from the pocket.

Throwback Thursday Challenge with My Creative Time!

It's another Throwback Thursday Challenge with My Creative Time!  This week Emma is asking us to make a project using a retired cartridge.  Here's a list of all of the retired cartridges.  I was really surprised to see how many are on this list!

So, my projects are usually a bit "girly", but I really wanted to make a little something for my son this time.  He's 15 and always looking for scraps of paper to write on while he's at the computer, so I made him a little note paper holder.  This is the matchbox cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes, & More.  I cut the outside part (found on page 123) at 4".  When I first cut the inside piece (page 124) at 4", I found it a little snug, so I resized it to 3.9" on my Gypsy, which was perfect!  It cuts with a slit for your ribbon.  I put mine through and adhered it to the inside of the box, but then I covered that area inside with a strip of paper to hide it.

For the top of the box, I added a blue layer cut at 2 1/2" x 3 7/8" and a patterned layer cut at 2 1/4" x 3 5/8".  The adorable little envelope was made with with the My Creative Time Happy Mail stamp set and Embossed Envelope die.  I stamped the "Just a Note" sentiment on my note paper as well.  Click here for ordering information on these products.

A Sweet Treat

One of my friends is having a group of us over to her house for lunch today, so I wanted to make a little hostess gift for her. I got her a packet of yummy hot fudge sauce and made a little bag for it. The bag ("inch bag") is cut at 7 1/2" from the Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More cartridge.

To decorate it, I cut an aqua 3 1/4" circle and layered it on top of a 3 1/2" scalloped circle. Both of these were cut from Mini Monograms with the Real Dial size button on. Popped on top of these is a yummy ice-cream sundae cut at 3 1/2" from the new Sweet Shop Lite cartridge. I added some Glossy Accents to the cherry.

I punched holes at the top of my bag, tied it together with some ribbon, and added a tag made with some Papertrey Ink goodies.

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

It's here! It's here! Happy National Scrapbooking Day! It was this day last year that I launched my blog. I had joined in the fun on My Pink Stamper that day, and I needed a place to post all of my challenges. Little did I know what this would turn into. I cannot believe that I have over 800 followers and 150 subscribers! That is just crazy! I want to thank each and every one of you for all of your support and wonderful comments. Now, on to this cute tag. It is cut at 4 1/2" from Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More. Emma, at My Creative Time, gave away this special Bonus Stamp to the people who first ordered from her latest release. I just couldn't let today pass without using it. I die cut some balsa wood with a Papertrey Ink die, and then stamped right onto it. Because balsa wood is very soft, and I wanted to pop it up, I die cut the shape with cardstock also, and glued them together. The sentiment at the bottom of the tag is another one from My Creative Time, from her "Paper Princess" set.

Throwback Thursday!

It's Throwback Thursday over at My Creative Time, and the entire design team is joining in the fun today! Emma asked us to create a 3-D project. I decided to make the cake box from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More. I can't believe I never used this before. It is too cute, and will make a perfect little treat for my friend who is celebrating a birthday this weekend!

I cut my box at 8 1/2" twice, once in the brown polka dotted paper, and once in light blue. Before cutting, I used my Gypsy to hide all of the tick marks and two slits that are part of the cut. I really don't care for the look of tick marks along my score lines, and this box is easy to score without them.

I assembled the brown box and then trimmed down the light blue so that I would just have a piece for the top and part of the sides. Before I layered this on the brown, I used the Martha Stewart Drippy Goo punch around the edges. I then added my treat (chocolate covered dried fruit from Trader Joe's - yum!) and adhered my box shut with a clear round sticker.

When I trimmed the light blue, I was left with a section that I was able to trim down for another triangle layer that I could run through my Cuttlebug. I also added a 1/4" strip of yellow cardstock on all 3 sides of the box.

For my sentiment, I used an adorable stamp from My Creative Time's "Wow! So Many Candles" stamp set. I just stamped it onto some rustic white cardstock and trimmed around it. Then I inked the edges and adhered it to a slightly bigger piece of pink cardstock.

The final touch was some some flowers and buttons. I made my flowers out of felt, using Papertrey Ink dies with my Cuttlebug. I added a few buttons and twine with my glue gun, and that was it! Cute and yummy!

Sweet Sympathy Card

A friend of mine lost her father this week, and I wanted to make her a special card. I think the embossing from the Stylized Flower Cuttlebug Folder is so pretty, so I didn't want to cover up too much of it.

My tag is cut at 2.88" from the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More Cricut cartridge. The sentiment label is also from this cartridge, but I used my Gypsy to change the base size to 2.38" x .75" and the shadow to 2.55" x 0.96". I used the "hide contour" feature to remove the slits in both. My little swatches of paper behind the label were created with the swatch die from the Papertrey Ink Button Card die set.

For the inside, I used the Papertrey Ink "With Sympathy" stamp set for my sentiment and butterfly. This is a great set for sympathy cards - lots of phrases when you have a hard time finding the right words.

For my design team project for Creative Critterz Imaginations today, I have a fun tag that I made to go with a Valentine's Day gift for a friend. This was really simple to make. First I cut a tag and its shadow from Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More at 4" using the "Cut Only " feature on my Imagine. Then I used the square that is a stock image on the Imagine, and flood filled four of them with different patterns from the Yummy cartridge at 5". Using my paper trimmer, I cut various shapes out of the patterned squares and adhered them to the tag with a small bit of mono-adhesive. I stayed away from the edges, so as not to gunk up my sewing machine. Then I sewed the pieces to the tag and adhered the whole thing to the shadow piece.

For embellishments, I added a cute sentiment on a ticket, some felt flowers with a button, and an eyelet with some pretty ribbon. Easy, but fun! Be sure to stop by Creative Critterz Imaginations to see what the rest of the design team has created for you this week!

Quick and Easy Imagine Tags

For this week's project for Creative Critterz Imaginations, I have a couple of quick and easy tags that you can make on your Imagine in no time at all. These two tags were cut at 4" from the Cricut Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More cartridge. I flood filled each tag with a pattern from the Imagine Snow Angel cartridge. I then chose the solid colors that come with that cartridge to flood fill the shadow and the scalloped circle (cut at 2.2") that is one of the Imagine stock images.

The cute circular pictures are actually from ornament cuts from Snow Angel. To make these, I selected "layers" when I chose my ornaments, but then deleted each layer except for the circles, which I cut at 1.8" true size. I inked everything up and then used pop dots on the scalloped circles. Both sentiments are from My Pink Stamper stamp sets. I stamped the one on the right on a ticket, as it was hard to get it to show up on the busy pattern. The ticket is the only paper on the tags that is not printed on the Imagine.

Wedding Shower Favors

My mom is hosting a wedding shower tomorrow, and I offered to make favors for her. These purses are cut at 5.63" with the Cricut "Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More" cartridge. I used my Gypsy, and was able to cut two on each 12" x 9" piece of cardstock. The cardstock is from DCWV "Pocket full of Posies" and "The Glitter Stack." The white satin ribbon is from Michael's, and the twill ribbon is from Papertrey Ink in Lavender Moon, Spring Moss, and Lemon Tart. I embellished with frosted Prima flowers and Recollections brads. Also, I adhered the purses using red tape, as I've found that they pop open after a while using my ATG gun. Each purse has two Ghirardelli filled chocolate squares inside.
