Throwback Thursday Challenge with My Creative Time!

It's another Throwback Thursday Challenge with My Creative Time!  We have a fun challenge for you this week - you need to create something using any Cricut FONT cartridge!  You can use the font, the phrases, or any of the images that often get overlooked on these cartridges.  Can you believe I got my mailbox and the plants on my card from the Jubilee cartridge?

Most of the images on the font cartridges do not come with layers, but it's easy to create them yourself.  I cut my mailbox twice - once in brown, and once in the red pattern, and just did a little cutting with my scissors.  Before adhering the red layer, I tucked in a little envelope that I created with the My Creative Time Embossed Envelope Die.  I stamped "miss you" by masking part of the "I sure miss you a lot!" sentiment from the My Creative Time Happy Mail stamp set.  I didn't want part of the sentiment to be hidden in the mailbox, so I just made it shorter.  I also embossed my post and used my Scor-Pal to create the line showing the corner of the post.

Now, this is an A7 size card (5" x 7 1/8").  I needed a big mailbox that would match the scale of my envelope.  The mailbox is cut at 6 1/2", and the plants are cut at 5" and 3 1/2" REAL DIAL SIZE.  I know the plants don't look that big, but they are part of a bigger cut that includes a tree, etc.  I just hand cut the grass.  The other cute sentiment is also from Happy Mail, and I stamped it upon an oval that I cut with the My Creative Time Stitched Oval Die and then trimmed to fit my card.  My pretty cloud paper was printed on my Imagine using the Best Friends cartridge.

Animal Print Bookmarks

Okay, here are the bookmarks that I made for my students for their first day of school.  I used my favorite animal print paper again.  These were pretty easy to make on my Gypsy.  For each one I took the bookmark shape from Plantin Schoolbook and sized it at 6.18" x 1.76".  I added the name inside it using the Feeling Groovy font at 1.5". I cut this in the patterned paper.  Then I also cut the bookmark shape without the name in white for the backing.  After adhering them together I added an eyelet and some ribbon.

I also used the letters that cut out of the bookmarks to make nameplates for my writing bulletin boards.  The shape that I glued the names on is from the Art Philosophy cartridge, and I stretched it in my Gypsy to fit the names.  I also ran it through the Cuttlebug with the Polka Dots Embossing Folder to give it some texture.

Here's a look at the 2nd grade writing board.  I used my Jubilee cartridge (thanks, Kim!) for the title.  Sorry the picture isn't the greatest.  I didn't realize it until I got home and loaded it onto my computer.
