Patriotic Cake Pops Pail

Here's my post for the week for the Creative Critterz Imaginations blog.

Last weekend I bought Bakerella's Cake Pops book and had my first attempt at making them. They were actually quite easy to make and so delicious! My brother and sister-in-law invited us over for a Memorial Day Barbecue, so I thought it would be fun to bring these along in some cute packaging.

I recently came across the printable vinyl that came with my Imagine, and I thought it would be perfect for this project. I went to Michael's and bought a blue pail and a 4" styrofoam ball. Then I got to work on my Imagine. I selected 6 stars from A Child's Year, sized at 1.5" and filled with patterns from the Bucaneer Imagine cartridge. After printing and cutting, I kept them on my mat, and selected "Load Last" on my Imagine screen. This moved the 6 stars over from where they were last printed. I then clicked "Apply All" and changed the size to 1", and then print and cut. This is a much quicker method than going and clicking on each star individually. Finally, I repeated the process to make 2" stars and put all of the stars on my pail.

I put a little bit of bubble wrap underneath the styrofoam ball to raise it up a bit. My styrofoam ball already has holes in it in this picture because I put all of the cake pops in it, and then I decided to add the red strips of paper. It was too hard to do this with the cake pops in, so I took them out, added the paper (run through my paper crimper, cut into strips, and then curled around my finger), and put them all back in.

I bought the sprinkles at my grocery store. Unfortunately they didn't have any patriotic ones. Of course, I saw some cute ones at Michael's the next day. Isn't that always how it works? If I make these again for the 4th of July, I'll definitely be buying those!

Cricut Circle May Monthly Challenge

This is my entry for the May Cricut Circle Montly Challenge. It is a Tic Tac Toe Challenge, where you have to pick three in a row on this chart.

I chose the bottom row. My flip-flops and sunglasses, from Pack Your Bags, were cut at 3" on my Imagine, using colors and a pattern from the All Wrapped Up Imagine cartridge. My teammate Leanne inspired me with the flowers on the flip-flops. She used fabric ones on this adorable card. Then, I was at a scrapbooking class at Emma's (My Creative Time) yesterday, and she had us making a layout with some paper ones that she had bought. They looked pretty easy to make, so I tried it for this card. I layered three 1" daisies from Walk in My Garden and then a 0.4" circle (that turned out looking like a lemon for some reason) on top. For my embossing, I used the Cuttlebug Seeing Spots Embossing Folder, and used my Scor-Pal to score a line where the embossing ended.

My sentiment is one of my FAVORITES from My Creative Time's "Have Fun in the Sun" stamp set. Isn't it the cutest? I heat embossed it with some white embossing powder, and I love how it looks against the black cardstock.

Altered Baby Frame

A good friend of mine recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. As part of the baby gift, I made this personalized frame for him. I began with a wooden frame from Michael's, to which I gave two coats of white acrylic paint. I then traced the frame onto the striped patterned paper, cut it out, and adhered it to the frame with Mod Podge.

The bear peeking out from behind the star is cut at 3" from Baby Steps. I ran the star through the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder and inked around the edges. For all of my cuts, I adhered them together with Scotch Quick Dry, but I attached them to the frame with Mod Podge.

The onesie is cut at 2 3/4" from Baby Steps. The original cut had different colored sleeves, but I removed them with my Gypsy.

"Colton" is cut at 1 1/4" from Nate's ABCs. I cut the shadow also, and then stitched around the letters with my gelly roll pen.

Throwback Thursday Challenge with My Creative Time!

It's Throwback Thursday at My Creative Time! This week's challenge is to create a project of your choice using any older cartridge, along with the colors green and yellow. I decided to pull out Wild Card and Forever Young. I just don't use Wild Card enough, and I LOVE the different shaped cards! I cut this one at 7". My Forever Young girl is cut at 5 1/2", but I used the "flip sideways" button on my Gypsy to have her fit better on my card base.

I wanted a yellow patterned paper on my card, but I didn't have any that I was really happy with, so I used my Imagine to print a full sheet of paper from the Best Friends cartridge. I then used this for the layer on the card and for the envelope (also cut at 7"). The reason I didn't just flood fill the layer and cut it on the Imagine is that it comes with a little window on the front, which I did not want. By using my Gypsy, I was able to hide the window. I'm hoping that capability comes to the Imagine soon!

My sentiment is from a new My Creative Time stamp set: "This and That". I thought it fit perfectly on this card!

World's Greatest Dad

Good morning! Here is my design team project for Creative Critterz Imaginations for this week. My dad is a big hiker, so I thought this would be a fun card to make for him for Father's Day. I began by printing the cuts below. The square is 4" and flood-filled with the cloud pattern from Best Friends. The circles are cut at 3.5" and 4", flood-filled with a pattern from Lori's Garden. Finally, my moose hiker (shown already assembled) was cut at 3.5", flood-filled with colors from the Imagine.

This card is A2 size, so I cut my brown cardstock at 4 1/4" x 11" and scored it at 5 1/2". The yellow cardstock is 4" x 5 1/4". To make my little scene, I trimmed the cloud paper to be 3 3/4" in width and adhered it to the yellow cardstock. I then lay my circle hills on top of that and marked with a pencil where I wanted to trim them.

My sentiment is from My Creative Time's "You're My Best Buddy" stamp set. I stamped it onto more of the yellow cardstock, which I cut with a Papertrey Ink die. I used the same stamp set for the inside.

My Creative Time's May Stamp Release Blog Hop

Today is the day! Emma is releasing four new My Creative Time stamp sets! They are all super cute, and the design team is showcasing them for you in this hop. If you haven't been there yet, head to Emma's blog to see her announcement. For my project, I decided to scrap my son's preschool photo. I just got the Imagine Vintage Papers cartridge, and I used it to for all of the patterned paper that you see here. I thought they went well with the little vintage scene in the photo.

The stamp set that I used on my layout is "Camera Shy". Don't you love the big size of this sentiment? Perfect for layouts or cards! I just stamped it on some Kraft cardstock, trimmed around it, and added a vintage button with some twine.

My little boy is cut at 5" from A Child's Year, flood filled with more patterns from the Vintage Papers cartridge.

The apple, cut at 2.5", is also from A Child's Year. I added some stitching and popped it up with some dimensionals.

Z-Fold Birthday Card

For my post for the Creative Critterz Imaginations blog today, I decided to try making a Z-fold card. It's super easy to make, and I think it adds something fun to the usual A2 sized card. My card base is cut at 4 1/4" x 11". I then scored it at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2" and folded it like this:

For my patterned paper, I used my Imagine to cut two rectangles flood-filled with a pattern from the Imagine More cartridge. I used the 8x10 rectangle that comes built into the Imagine, but I cut mine at 4.2" and trimmed them down. The larger piece is 5 1/4" x 4", and the two smaller pieces are 2 1/2" x 4".

My little guitar playing fox is from the Birthday Bash cartridge. I flood-filled him with colors from the Imagine More cartridge and cut him at 3.8". A little inking, stitching, and google eyes finished him off.

The birthday cake is again from the Birthday Bash cartridge and flood-filled with Imagine More colors. It was cut at 3", and I ran the frosting through the Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folder.

My sentiment is from My Creative Time's "Wow! So Many Candles" stamp set. I used a layer from one of the border pieces from Imagine More and changed it to a solid color. It's cut at 0.8" and trimmed to 5.25" in width. Finally, I added a place to write a note, using a little Papertrey Ink die.

A Pretty Thank You

My sweet parents brought me the most beautiful hydrangea plant on Mother's Day. I decided to try to make a matching thank you card using the Walk in My Garden cartridge. I cut the hydrangeas (using my Gyspy) at 3.6", 3.9", and 4.2". The flower pot is cut at 1.8", and I popped up the layer with some pop dots. I also wrapped it with some twine and attached a little thank you tag created with a Papertrey Ink die in my Cuttlebug.

Here is a look at the actual flowers. Aren't they gorgeous? I have them right outside my kitchen window, so that I'm looking out at them when I do dishes.

Circle Weekly Challenge: Sketch Challenge!

I really haven't tried working with sketches before, so I thought this week's Cricut Circle Challenge would be a good opportunity to do so. We were asked to use the sketch below, and it ended up working pretty well for scrapping another page from my son's 4th birthday party.

The star border going across the center of my page is cut at 1.25" from the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art cartridge. I cut "GAMES" from Boys Will Be Boys at 2". The phrase is actually "GAME", but I used my gypsy to weld an "S" to the shadow.

My dump truck is cut at 2.25" from Mickey and Friends. I popped it up on a 4" circle that I cut from Cricut Classic Font and ran through the Polka Dots Cuttlebug folder. Some Jolee's dimensional stickers made the centers of the wheels.

To make the circle peeking behind my yellow layer at the top of the page, I dragged the same 4" circle I used before off the bottom of my Gypsy screen, so that only part of it would cut out. I did the same thing with a 3.65" circle for the green layer. The little stars were leftover from the border cut.

I'm also entering this layout into the Whimsical Wednesday "Happy Birthday" Challenge.

Circle Magazine Challenge

This month's Circle Magazine Challenge is called "All About the Teacher Contest". We were asked to use our Cricuts to create classroom decorations or cards for our favorite teachers. Since I am the teacher, I did something a little different. I brought my Cricut to school and let my favorite students (all of them) use it to create a project that is now decorating our classroom. Each of my 2nd graders researched somebody who made a difference in our world. Today they had a ball using Everyday Paper Dolls and Paper Doll Dress Up to create 16" versions of their people. They chose the clothes and accessories, picked out papers, and learned how to cut with the Cricut! They turned out really cute. Here are close up pics of a few of them:

The winner of this challenge gets a Cricut Expression and 5 cartridges for their school! I don't know if my project will make us eligbile, but after seeing what my kids created, I know a lot of the teachers at my school would love to have one for all of us to use.

Race for a Cure Blog Hop!

Good morning! Today Emma and her My Creative Time Design Team are having a hop for breast cancer awareness. We are showcasing My Creative Time’s “Race for a Cure” stamp set. This hop has special meaning to me, as my cousin Mary lost her 8 year battle to breast cancer three years ago. She was not just a cousin, but a friend, coworker, and godmother to my son, and she left behind a wonderful husband and three school-aged children.

Mary is never far from our minds, and this summer her daughter, husband, and sister will once again do the Avon 2-Day Walk to raise money for breast cancer research. I thought that this card would be a great encouragement to send to one of them before the walk. Don’t you love these shoes? I really want a REAL pair for me! I cut them from Groovy Times at 3”.

My background paper was printed from the Better Together Imagine cartridge. Both the “Race for a Cure” stamp and the ribbon are from Emma’s stamp set.
