My Creative Time Sneak Peek!

Hey there!  It's Day 2 of My Creative Time's August Release Sneak Peeks today!  I'm not part of the "official" sneaks for today, but I couldn't resist playing along.  Emma has THREE Christmas sets out this month!  This card idea has been in my head ever since I saw this sentiment from the It's a Magical Season stamp set.

This is an A2 size card.  To make my snowman, I welded together a 2.14" circle and a 1.32" circle using my Gypsy.  I then cut the hat, scarf, mouth, and eyes at 3 3/4" from the Cricut Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art Cartridge.  The twig arms are from the Cricut Christmas Cheer cartridge.

To make a spot for my sentiment, I sized this shape from the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge at .75" x 2.5" on my Gypsy.

MCT 12 Days of Christmas - Day 1

Welcome to the My Creative Time "12 Days of Christmas"!  You are in for a lot of fun for the next twelve days - daily projects by Emma and the design team, along with some fabulous prizes celebrating Emma's one year anniversary!  If you arrived here from Jeanne,  then you are headed in the right direction.  If not, please start at Emma's blog here.

For my project today, I made one of the adorable little houses from the Cricut Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge.  This could be used to house a cupcake or some treats, but I think it's just going to be some Christmas decor in my house for now!  I began by cutting the pieces at 10", although I did use my Gypsy to hide some of the detail cuts that I knew I didn't want to use (the round window and the flowerpot).  I then stamped the kraft base with my Papertrey Ink Woodgrain background stamp, using cream ink. 

 For the roof, I added icicle borders cut at 4" in width from the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art cartridge.  I also hand cut some snow to go around the base of the house.

I cut the sign post 3 times - once in red and twice in kraft, so that I could trim down the kraft to put on the front and back of the red signpost.  On each of the kraft signs, I inked around the edge with cream ink and then stamped "Merry Christmas" from Emma's All Around Christmas stamp set and the tree from her Anyday Bingo & Crossword stamp set.

The wreaths are cut at 2 1/4" from the Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons cartridge.  I added little bows made with Trendy Twine and popped up the wreaths with dimensionals.  To make the windows, I attached 3" squares of vellum to the inside of the house.

I embossed the front door with the Papertrey Ink Woodgrain Impression Plate before attaching a brad for the doorknob and adhering it down.  The topiaries are cut at 2 1/2" from the Joys of the Season cartridge.

The tree is cut at 3 1/2" from Christmas Cheer and the cute bunny is cut at 1" from Winter Woodland.

Gilby's Makeover Walk

Welcome to Gilby's Makeover Walk!  Wendy, over at Gilby's Crafster, just got an awesome blog makeover and is celebrating with this "Doggie Walk"!  If you just stumbled upon this post, be sure to head over to Gilby's Crafster to see her cool new look and to begin the walk!  In honor of the makeover, Wendy has asked each of us to do some type of makeover project.

For my makeover project, I decided to play with the cute tray shown below that my mom bought for me years ago.  I love it how it is, but I thought I could also easily transform it for different holidays without harming the original tray.  

For my project, I decorated a 12" square piece of cardstock and then just laid it in the tray. If I ever wanted to prop the tray up, I could just use some removable adhesive to make it stick temporarily.

Within the 12" square, I made 4 smaller squares by layering 5 9/16" squares of patterned paper onto 5 13/16" squares of solid cardstock.  To decorate this first square, I cut these words from the Cricut Word Collage cartridge in black.  I then used my Gypsy to hide all of the words and just cut the pumpkin again in orange.  Unfortunately, my Gypsy died this week, so I don't have access to the sizes of any of my cuts for this project.

For this square, I made some fun Halloween Bingo cards using the new My Creative Time Anyday Bingo & Crossword stamp set.  I love this set because you can create any word that you want on your Bingo card.  The witch is cut from the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art cartridge.

This square has two more fun cuts from the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art cartridge.  There are a lot of gems on this one!

Finally, to create this square, I cut two pumpkins from Create a Critter and put them on poles that I had cut 1/4" wide using my paper cutter.  My little ghost and alien costumes are from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge.  I was excited to "hang" them from my clothesline using these cute clothespins that I've had for a while, but never used.

My Creative Time September Sneak Peek #3

Good morning!  It's time for Day 3 of our My Creative Time September Sneak Peeks!  Today we are showcasing Emma's new stamp set, Whimsical Calendar Days, and die, XL Label Die.  This is another set that can be used in so many different ways.  I chose to use it in a Halloween card today.  This is an A2 sized card (5 1/2" x  4 1/4").  My cute witch is from the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art Cricut cartridge, cut at 3".

For the calendar, I began by die-cutting some cute My Mind's Eye Halloween paper, using the XL Label Die.  I then stamped the coordinating frame in orange.  This stamp set comes with one set of dates, but if you are using a month with less than 31 days, it is easy to mask off the days you don't need by covering them with scotch tape before inking (just remember to remove the scotch tape before stamping).  After stamping the dates and month, I used the little square that comes with the set to highlight October 31st.

I couldn't resist adding one of my favorite My Creative Time Halloween sentiments.  This one is from the Mixed Holiday Sentiments stamp set.  A pretty brad finished it off!

My Creative Time July Sneek Peek #1

Emma, at My Creative Time, is releasing four brand new stamp sets this Friday! For today's sneak peek, I made this A2 sized card for my dad's upcoming birthday. The table is cut from the French Manor Cricut cartridge at 2 1/2". The wine glass, also from French Manor, is cut at 1 1/4". It didn't come with any layers, so I cut it twice to make my own. I did the same thing with the wine bottle, which is cut at 1 3/4" from the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Cart cartridge. On the label, I added a little Papertrey Ink sentiment.

Now, for the sneak peek! This sentiment is from the new My Creative Time Many Greetings stamp set, which is being released this Friday! You're definitely going to want this one; it's so useful for those everyday cards.

Circle Weekly Challenge: Sketch Challenge!

I really haven't tried working with sketches before, so I thought this week's Cricut Circle Challenge would be a good opportunity to do so. We were asked to use the sketch below, and it ended up working pretty well for scrapping another page from my son's 4th birthday party.

The star border going across the center of my page is cut at 1.25" from the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art cartridge. I cut "GAMES" from Boys Will Be Boys at 2". The phrase is actually "GAME", but I used my gypsy to weld an "S" to the shadow.

My dump truck is cut at 2.25" from Mickey and Friends. I popped it up on a 4" circle that I cut from Cricut Classic Font and ran through the Polka Dots Cuttlebug folder. Some Jolee's dimensional stickers made the centers of the wheels.

To make the circle peeking behind my yellow layer at the top of the page, I dragged the same 4" circle I used before off the bottom of my Gypsy screen, so that only part of it would cut out. I did the same thing with a 3.65" circle for the green layer. The little stars were leftover from the border cut.

I'm also entering this layout into the Whimsical Wednesday "Happy Birthday" Challenge.

Something Egg-stra Special

This is my second post today. Scroll down to see how I used some scraps to make a cute card for my Creative Critterz Imaginations Design Team project.

Today is the day for another design team post for Craft Junkie Too! This week's task was to make "Something Egg-stra Special" with an Easter egg on it. Be sure to stop by Craft Junkie Too to see what Tracy, Amber, and Cheryl have created for you this week.

For my project, I made an Easter card for my brother's family. My sister-in-law likes to use my cards as part of her holiday decorations, and she was whining about not having an Easter one (just kidding, Becky)! The grass on the card is made from two 1" borders of grass from the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art cartridge, welded together on my Gypsy. I cut this twice and layered it, in two different shades of green. The eggs, sized at 4.4" and 4.75", are from Doodlecharms.

I decided my chick needed to be on an Action Wobble so that my little nephews can have fun with him. He and his shell are cut at 2.75", and I hid his facial features on my Gypsy so that I could use a Peachy Keen stamp. You can still do this without a Gypsy, but cutting him with the "blackout" feature.

Lastly, I used one of my new Papertrey Ink dies for my sentiment tag and stamped it with a cute sentiment from My Creative Time's "Color Me Happy" stamp set. This set is PERFECT for Easter!

Valentine Heart Tree

My mom has had this silver tree for years, but she decided that she didn't want it anymore. She kept the ornaments that came with it, but I gladly took the tree, thinking it could have many uses throughout the year. My first project with it is this Valentine heart tree that I made for my Creative Critterz Imaginations design team project.

All of my hearts were printed on the Imagine and cut at 3". For each one, I printed and cut the base and layers regularly and in the "flip horizontally" mode. In this way, I was able to create double sided-hearts.

I went through my Cricut cartridges and just picked hearts that I liked. I used the Accent Essentials, Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art, Sweethearts, and Doodlecharms Cricut Cartridges.

For the patterns, I chose the ones that I liked for Valentine's Day from the Imagine More, Lori's Garden, Imagine More Cards, and Best Friends Imagine cartridges.

Finally, I added some button accents on some of the hearts and used twine to attach all of them to the tree. Be sure to stop by Creative Critterz Imaginations to see all of the other projects that my teammates have created this week!

Wobbling Penguin Card

Here's a fun card that I made for my niece, who is currently obsessed with penguins. The penguin is attached to the card with an Action Wobble, so she can make him wobble like a bobble head! Very fun!

I used the "print and cut" feature on my Imagine with the Snow Angel cartridge for the patterned paper and the icicles. I made the snowflake paper by cutting a 4" square with rounded corners, and then trimmed it to 4" x 3 3/4". The icicles were cut from the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art Cricut cartridge at 1.5", flood filled with Snow Angel colors.

Because I wanted a stiff cardstock for my penguin to be able to wobble easily, I used the "cut only" feature on my Imagine and cut him on Papertrey Ink cardstock. The penguin is cut at 3" from Create a Critter, and his Santa hat is cut at 6" from Paper Doll Dress Up. I cut the hat once in red and once in white to create the layers.

The white base of the card is 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2", and the red layer is 4" x 5 1/4". I used my Corner Chomper on all of the corners.
