3rd Grade Welcome Poster

Today is the first day of school for me, so I thought I'd share the welcome poster I made for my class.  It's quite large (18" x 24"), and as you can see, it was not easy to get a good picture of it.  I promise it's really cute in person! I teach in California, where our doors open right up to the outdoors (no interior hallways).  So, since this is on the window facing outside, I needed something that would not fade.  I started with a white piece of poster board and covered it with blue fadeless paper.  For my borders, I welded together 1" x 12" strips from the Cricut Ribbons & Rosettes cartridge.  To make it really easy, that light blue plaid paper I used is adhesive backed.  I found a 12" x 24" pack of DCWV adhesive backed paper at Joann's last year, and it was perfect for this!

"Soar" is from the Straight From the Nest cartridge, and the rest of the letters are from Feeling Groovy. I welded them together on my Gypsy. I used that adhesive backed paper for the letters too, which made assembling them a snap!

For each student, I die cut an airplane out of my scraps with the My Creative Time Fly Away With Me dies and stamped the coordinating image from the Fly Away With Me stamp set.  I used a white gelly roll pen to make my "string" that connects the banner (cut with the die from Fly Away With Me Sentiments).  This was a pretty easy poster to make, and with the adorable airplanes, I think it's much cuter than the ones available to buy these days!

And I thought I'd share some other places where the Cricut made it into my classroom.  Yesterday morning I was putting up my math bulletin board, when I decided it needed a banner.  Good thing I had my Gypsy with me, and I have my old Expression in the classroom!  Isn't that fun?

This board has lots of Cricut.  Besides the regular cuts, those other motiviational cuts were made on my Imagine with the Word of Mouth cartridge.  I've got fun quotes all around my room!

MCT Favorite Stamps of the Month

It's time for My Creative Time's "Favorite Stamps of the Month," and Emma's got three great sets on sale this month, until June 30th!  They are My Little Firecracker, You're My Best Buddy, and Have Fun in the Sun.  These three are PERFECT for summer!  We're also having a Linky Party at My Creative Time, where you can share new or older projects that you've made with these sets.  You have two weeks to enter!

For my project today, I made a little 4th of July tag, showcasing a sentiment from My Little Firecracker.  The tag is cut at 5" from the Cricut Sweet Treats cartridge.  The stars are cut at 2.5" and 3.5" from A Child's Year, and the border at the bottom is cut at 0.93" from Ribbons & Rosettes.  Product details are at the bottom of this post.  I've got lots of past projects using all three stamp sets, so keep scrolling down!

Holiday Gift Bags

My roofing tin wall hangings for my coworkers are all finished and packaged up to give away tomorrow. I wrapped them in tissue and put them in small kraft gift bags that I had ordered from Oriental Trading Company.

To decorate the plain bags, I used hot glue to attach bows to the jingle bell ornaments.  

For the rosettes,  I used the Cricut Ribbons and Rosettes cartridge.  I used my Gypsy to weld three of the main images and then hid the scoring marks (I prefer not to have them showing).  It took two of these welded sections to make each rosette.  I hot glued the rosettes to scalloped circles cut with My Creative Time's Scallop & Stitched Circle Dies.  This held the rosettes together, and allowed me a spot to add a cute sentiment from MCT's All Around Christmas stamp set.  

On the back of the rosette, I used MCT's Classmate Valentines stamp set for the "To" and "From".

For my coworkers that don't celebrate Christmas, I went with more of a winter theme.

MCT 12 Days of Christmas - Day 3

Welcome to the My Creative Time "12 Days of Christmas"!  You are in for a lot of fun for these twelve days - daily projects by Emma and the design team, along with some fabulous prizes celebrating Emma's one year anniversary!  If you arrived here from Jeanne,  then you are headed in the right direction.  If not, please start at Emma's blog here.

For today's project, I decorated a gift bag in some non-traditional colors and tried a new technique with Emma's stamps!

I began by making a rosette using the Cricut Ribbons & Rosettes cartridge.  I cut two of the 2 x 11 borders at 2" and scored them between each scallop.  After adhering them together to create the rosette, I glued it to my bag with hot glue.  Next I cut a 4" scalloped circle from Mini Mongrams and added some white stitching around the edges.  I cut a 4" circle from the same cartridge and ran in through the Cuttlebug Polka Dots embossing folder before adhering it to the scalloped circle.  The stocking is cut at 2 3/4" from Jolly Holiday and is attached with pop dots.  To make it nice and secure, I attached the scalloped circle to the rosette with hot glue.

Now for my fun experiment!  I used Emma's Scallop & Stitched Circle Dies to cut out the scallop shape in pink and the circle in vellum.  I then stamped the adorable snowman from Emma's All Around Christmas stamp set, using The Essential Glue Pad, which I found at Michael's.  I covered the whole thing with some lime green glitter and shook off the excess. I then attached the circle and scallop together by adding an eyelet and some twine.

I experimented with a couple more of these tags.  This one has another sentiment from All Around Christmas.

To make this one, I used Emma's XL Label Die, cutting the shape once out of green cardstock and once out of vellum.  Before adhering them together, I went through the same process with a third sentiment from All Around Christmas.

Teacup Birthday Card

I have another birthday card for you today.  I made this one for my master teacher, who remains one of my best friends after 20 years!  We always had tea at morning recess when I was student teaching with her, so I thought this would be appropriate.

I began with a cream colored card base sized at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  Using my Gypsy, I welded together a scalloped border and a rectangle for the brown layer.  The border is a 1" x 6" one from the Cricut Ribbons & Rosettes cartridge, but I adjusted the width to 5 1/2" real size.  The rectangle was also sized at a width of 5 1/2".  I didn't worry so much about the height (just making it big enough), because I found it easier to cut it with the Cricut and then use my paper trimmer to adjust the height to 4". The blue layer is 5 1/2" x 3 5/8", and I stamped "Happy Birthday" from My Creative Time's Gift Card Sentiments stamp set.

The cute teacup is cut from Love You a Latte at 2 1/2".  I stamped "Enjoy" from My Creative Time's This & That stamp set.  So sweet!
